Residential & Commercial Roofing, Storm Damage Repair Across the Midwest

Midwest | Story

Why Ames homeowners call Midwest Roof & Solar

Ames blends established neighborhoods of character homes with newer, planned developments, and each calls for the right roof system and clean execution. Some newer communities carry HOA guidelines, which we handle from submission to approval. Central Iowa's hail and derecho-force wind hit Ames every storm season. We document damage thoroughly and manage the insurance claim so the covered scope matches the full loss.

Always a Pleasure working with Cody Valley at Midwest Roof and Solar. He has now done multiple of my roofs and they always provide excellent service. This last roof was done two weeks after the final cost was agreed upon. They showed up on a Saturday and had my roof done by lunchtime and it looks phenomenal. The cleanup job, and the care they showed for my property was top notch.

Jordan and Jaden at Midwest Roof and Solar are fantastic to work with. Communication and follow through are top notch and the work is high quality. Would highly recommend Midwest Roof and Solar to anyone looking for exterior solutions on their home, for me they even took on a repair that many contractors would not address and they provided a fantastic solution!

As a State Farm agent, I couldn’t recommend Jayden and his crew more highly. Every customer we have referred to them has returned with glowing reviews about their experience. From start to finish, Jayden and his team are attentive, hands-on, and transparent. They truly prioritize their clients' needs and ensure that every detail is taken care of. If you’re looking for a reliable and dedicated team, look no further than Jayden and his crew!

Amazing experience and quality of work. We had been struggling to work with another company, and these kind folks stepped in and got the job done so quickly and efficiently. The point of contact was Jayden, and he could not have been easier to work with. The price was fair, and he helped us add gutters to our original repair order. We will definitely reach out again should we need repairs to our roof in the future!

I really wanted to like Midwest Roof and Solar after doing research about the best places for roofing and siding. But overall, it was a rough experience. At the beginning, the project manager changed, and no one contacted me for over a month. I had to call and email many times before another project manager finally followed up. The second project manager was very unorganized and slow to respond. He kept forgetting details about the project, was very unorganized, and could not explain how the insurance process worked. During the entire project I needed to stay on top of the project manager and make sure he delivered what we agreed. For my roofing project, the wrong color shingles were installed. The team did eventually install the correct shingles, but again this caused more delays and inconvenience. Also, the cleanup from shingling was very poor. Nails and metal pieces have been found on my lawn for months. The siding project was mostly well done. However, the air vents for my attic were not properly installed and fell off within days. I have been trying to reach the Midwest team for months and have received no response. Fair warning to anyone considering Midwest – do not make your final payment until you have inspected everything. They took my money and did not complete the work.

I used Midwest for a roof replacement after storm damage this spring. The experience was excellent from start to finish. I was kept informed of everything at each step of the process. The project manager was punctual for each meeting and the installation happened just as he described it would. The materials were dropped off on schedule, the crew arrived on schedule and completed the job in one day. Very happy with the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about roof repair, replacement, and inspections.

Ask a question

How do I know if my Ames roof has storm damage?

Central Iowa sits in an active severe-weather zone, with spring and summer hail, straight-line wind, derechos, and the occasional tornado, plus winter ice and snow. If you see granules collecting in your gutters, dents on vent caps or HVAC fins, or lifted shingles along the ridge, it’s worth documenting. Most damage isn’t visible from the ground — a free Midwest Roof & Solar inspection takes 30–45 minutes and gives you a written, photo-documented answer either way.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Ames?

Yes. The City of Ames requires a building permit for roof replacement. Midwest Roof & Solar handles the permit and inspection.

How much value does a new roof add to a home in Ames?

Two ways to look at it. National Cost vs. Value data shows roughly 60–70% of the project cost is returned at resale. More importantly, in a market where buyers run inspections, a recent roof removes one of the top negotiating points used to push a sale price down — so the practical resale impact often lands higher.
